The Cambodian boat series was started with a single drawing of a commerant like headed boat on the tonle sap lake. The shape excited me and led to the painting of 22 paintings which was ironic as I had gone to Cambodia to work from Angor Wat and ended up not using any of those drawings for paintings.

As the American policy for war was apparent during the time this work was done, these paintings also became a cautionary symbol. In that these boats belonged to the people stranded country-less thirty years after the Vietnam Disaster.
